Your numbers
PMP
Share of maintenance time that was planned
340 ÷ 400 × 100 = 85%
How the calculation works
PMP = planned maintenance hours ÷ total maintenance hours × 100. It’s the share of maintenance time spent on planned work rather than reacting to breakdowns. Higher PMP is better.
Planned work includes preventive, scheduled and condition-based jobs; the rest is breakdown repair. Some teams count work orders instead of hours, but hours give a truer picture because one long breakdown can outweigh many short planned jobs.
Planned work is faster and safer: parts are kitted, the procedure is ready and the right person is assigned. A rising PMP usually comes with a falling MTTR.
This calculator is for one period, entered by hand. In MachDatum CMMS, work order types separate breakdown repairs from planned PM work, so the split is already recorded.
