EAM (Enterprise Asset Management)

stands for Enterprise Asset Management — software that manages the full lifecycle of physical assets (acquisition, operation, maintenance, and disposal) across an entire organization, not just a single plant. A CMMS is often the maintenance module inside a broader EAM system.

MRO

stands for Maintenance, Repair, and Operations — the parts, tools, and consumables a plant keeps on hand to keep equipment running, as distinct from the raw materials that go into the product itself.

P

Permit to Work (PTW)

is a formal, signed authorization required before a high-risk maintenance task — hot work, confined space entry, electrical isolation, working at height — can begin, confirming the hazards have been assessed and the right controls are in place.
